Awesome! Happy to see a new sushi bar pushing the limits in the LES. The menu fits the size of the location (not to big and not too small).
We started with the edamame tartare. I have never seen that before, so good and fresh. Then we had the Mushroom mix. Just enough butter but still alot of that mushroom taste. A like small resturants alot better, and I feel like they appericate it more. Some people who dont know how to hold a knife all the sudden think they are food critics. That guy is 23, what alot of pressure. Can't wait to return, although last Friday it was pack and didn't want to wait outside (because they don't have an area for you don't order a drink and wait) , so I will try to go during the week. Also no desserts! But hey its sushi, its doesnt need a chocolate ending. (show less)

One of my absolute favorite places to dine in Chicago, Habana Libre delivers on so many fronts. From its simple sandwiches (did someone say Cuban) to its oxtail (tender, fall of the bone, meaty delight), this restaurant is the real deal. Bring your own wine, beer, or fixings for a mojito, you can have your drinks without the typical markups on the liquor. Small corkage fees do apply, however.

I love the cuban sandwich and the jibarito, which is actually a puerto rican gem, and for under $10 with rice and beans, the meal is affordable and delicious.

The decor is warm, and especially wonderful when Chicagoans are braving the brutal icy winds of the Midwest. You can almost forget that you are living in a frozen tundra while you dine.

I recommend it for parties (of course, make a reservation), an unassuming first date, or just a dinner out with friends. (show less)
