    What the food lakes in imagination it does not make up for in speed or cost.

    The place was empty on a Tuesday afternoon at typical American dinner time. It was my visiting family and one other couple with a small child in the whole of the dining area.

    I ordered the Dos XX Fish Tacos, where the fish was battered in beer and deep fried. The fish was undercooked and mushy, like it had been frozen before hand and then left to thaw to long before putting in the batter and fried.

    Awesome! Happy to see a new sushi bar pushing the limits in the LES. The menu fits the size of the location (not to big and not too small).
    We started with the edamame tartare. I have never seen that before, so good and fresh. Then we had the Mushroom mix. Just enough butter but still alot of that mushroom taste. After that we ordered the "chef's choice" Great combo of sushi and sashimi, and for the price you are paying the big boys of sushi would go out of busniess. A like small ... (show more)

    One of my absolute favorite places to dine in Chicago, Habana Libre delivers on so many fronts. From its simple sandwiches (did someone say Cuban) to its oxtail (tender, fall of the bone, meaty delight), this restaurant is the real deal. Bring your own wine, beer, or fixings for a mojito, you can have your drinks without the typical markups on the liquor. Small corkage fees do apply, however.
